Moving from Dhaka to Khulna via the Padma Bridge: a practical guide

Since the Padma Bridge opened, moving between Dhaka and Khulna has become much faster — there is no long ferry wait, so a truck that leaves Dhaka at night usually reaches Khulna by early morning.

How the moving day runs

  • The truck (18 ft covered, 18 ft open or 23 ft covered) is brought near your home the night before, because large trucks cannot enter the city in the daytime.
  • On moving day we pack from the morning and bring your goods down to the ground floor step by step.
  • Loading starts after evening, and the truck leaves at around 9–10 PM.
  • If the truck reaches Khulna before 6–7 AM, we unload that morning. Otherwise it waits for the daytime truck restriction to end and we unload at around 8–9 PM.

Pack for the highway

Long-distance moves need stronger packing than moves within the city. Furniture is wrapped in poly and blankets, electronics are padded and cartons are packed tightly so nothing shifts on the road. Covered vans protect everything from rain and dust.

A team at both ends

Pro Movers BD has a branch in Khulna as well as our Dhaka head office. The Dhaka team loads, the truck travels with a responsible person, and the Khulna team helps unload, place furniture and refit appliances.

What to keep with you

Carry jewellery, cash, documents and laptops yourself. Keep a first-night bag with clothes, medicine and chargers, as the truck may arrive after you.
