Month-End House Shifting in Dhaka: A Practical Booking Plan

A date-flexible checklist for building permission, survey, packing and handover when many Dhaka tenancies change near month-end.

Month-End House Shifting in Dhaka: A Practical Booking Plan — Pro Movers BD moving guide

Month-end is a common handover period for rented homes in Dhaka. That does not mean every mover, building or road follows one timetable. A good plan works backward from the dates your old home must be handed over and your new home can accept furniture. It also keeps an alternative ready without pretending that a preferred slot is confirmed.

Write down the two real deadlines

Record the earliest time you can enter the new home and the latest time the old home must be empty. Add key handover, utility reading, inspection and building-office hours. If these windows do not overlap, decide where people and essential bags will wait. Do not use the moving vehicle as unapproved storage.

Ask whether the new tenancy starts before the old one ends. Even a short overlap can allow cleaning, internet installation and small-item delivery before moving day. If there is no overlap, identify the exact person who will release the new keys and keep that person reachable.

Request assessment before the final week

Prepare the inventory and access details early. Month-end availability can be limited, but submitting a form does not reserve a crew or vehicle. A booking exists only after the company confirms scope, date and any required advance. Avoid making a non-refundable building arrangement until the moving schedule is confirmed.

Use a survey when the load is large, the lift is small, a lane is difficult or several technical services are requested. If a video assessment is used, show every room, storage space, large item and both entrances. Update the team when the inventory changes.

Confirm building rules at both addresses

Ask management or the caretaker about permitted moving hours, lift booking, gate passes, protective covering, deposits and vehicle waiting. Record the contact name and phone number. “The caretaker said it is fine” is weak when a different guard is on duty.

Check whether other residents are moving on the same day. A shared service lift or loading point can cause delay. You do not need a guaranteed response-time promise; you need an agreed window, reachable contacts and a process for confirming changes.

Separate packing from last-day cleaning

Finish decisions about donating, selling and discarding items before packing. Label cartons by destination room and keep a simple count. Pack documents, jewellery, medicines, chargers, keys and first-night items in bags that travel with you.

If the old home must be cleaned for handover, decide whether cleaning happens after loading or on another day. Keep cleaning tools separate so they are not loaded first. At the new home, cleaning before furniture arrives is usually easier, but it must fit the key and building-access schedule.

Prepare utilities and technical work

Arrange internet, gas or other permitted utility steps with the responsible providers. List AC, geyser, water-filter, washing-machine or electrical work separately in the quotation request. A moving crew should not automatically handle a technical connection without the suitable person and agreed scope.

Defrost and dry the refrigerator according to the appliance guidance. Back up computers and keep passwords with the owner. Photograph cable connections when it will help the authorised person reconnect them.

Create a labelled handover path

At the old home, check cupboards, lofts, balconies, roof spaces, storerooms and parking areas before releasing the keys. Note meter readings and return access devices according to the tenancy agreement. Keep evidence of the condition if required by the owner or management.

At the destination, decide where beds, wardrobes and major appliances go before unloading. Large furniture should be placed before cartons block the room. Use one family contact to answer placement questions and avoid conflicting instructions.

Keep a realistic alternative

Heavy rain, a building restriction or an unconfirmed key can affect the plan. Discuss an alternative date or sequence, but treat it as a request until the company confirms. Do not ask the team to ignore building rules or use an unverified route to recover time.

If the move cannot proceed, document what changed and how the booking terms apply. Read cancellation and rescheduling terms before paying an advance. A clear written record protects both customer and company.

Check the quotation one final time

Compare the confirmed quotation with the inventory you will actually move. Additions such as a newly purchased wardrobe, extra cartons or a second pickup should be reviewed before moving day. Confirm which packing, dismantling and technical tasks are included and which remain your responsibility. Keep the request and booking references available to both the old-home and new-home contacts.

Avoid making several overlapping enquiries with slightly different phone numbers for the same job. It can create duplicate records and conflicting versions of the inventory. If something changes, update the existing request through the agreed contact route. A clean history helps the operations team see the latest approved plan.

Prepare people as well as possessions

Tell family members when rooms will become unavailable and where children or pets will stay during loading. Arrange personal transport separately from the goods vehicle. At the destination, keep drinking water, basic cleaning supplies, phone chargers and essential medication accessible. These details do not select the truck or change the rate table, but they make a crowded month-end handover safer and calmer.

Month-end checklist

  • Confirm old-home handover and new-home access times.
  • Submit inventory, floors, lifts and exact gates for review.
  • Obtain written building rules and responsible contacts.
  • Confirm the moving booking; do not rely on a form success screen alone.
  • Label cartons and keep valuables and essentials with you.
  • Arrange technical work and utilities separately.
  • Plan cleaning, key handover and meter readings.
  • Prepare a confirmed alternative if conditions change.

Start with the Dhaka moving checklist, then send your exact details through the quotation request. If access or inventory needs inspection, request a free survey.
